Cosplay Rave
Yeah yeah I know it's been a while. Who knows if anyone still reads this. Most of you who know me know that I am now in Cali. However, I still have a ton of unposted videos from my time in Japan. I need to catch up with a lot of those and start telling you about how amazing life is here in Los Angeles.
So the video I'm presenting to you is about a cosplay rave I went to in Shizuoka.
After a long work week, Pin and I had gotten fed up with the poor selection of entertainment in quiet little Fujinomiya, so we met up at a little bar in Fuji City called Neverland. There I met a group of Otaku who consisted of Good-sun (DJ, promoter, otaku genius) a quiet friend (sorry I cant quite recall his name) and the beautiful and talented DJ Chitama. She was everything I ever looked for in a woman (except for the not being interested in me romantically part), she loved anime, she was driven, and she sang Marylin Manson with me at karaoke (and did i mention she was beautiful?). I was desperate for any excuse to see her again so when she handed me a flyer to come see her next gig at a rave for geeks held at Etti. Etti is a nice little club on the 6th floor of the Don Quixote (i guess it would actually be closer to Don Kihote) building in Shizuoka. Pin refused to be any part of such geekery but reliable Gabriel is usually up for anything so he tagged along. The following is basically how it went.

Re:connected
It's been a bit. And in fact if you are following me, then I can only guess you know my current whereabouts. But to be fair to my legacy, this one will be out of place. I am now in Los Angeles, but after this blog i will go back and post all the things i want able to for ab out 6 months. Which is alot.
It was a hell of a lot in my little life. Thats why i didnt post. Because i was living. This typing box b.s. isnt a real life. Its just a public way of trying to feel like people care about it. Evry journal is just that, a vain attempt at someon discovering it and caring.
We all want someone to care. And honestly... this is truly the best thing i could ever tell anyone.
There actually is someone out there that cares. Probaly the person sitting next to you. Its that initial "hello" we go all outs to find. You don't get it? Think about the last time you went "searching for the remote".
I was digressing. Here is what i want to say about L.A. today. Then i will go back in time. Then i will work my way forward.
Once again. I love you all.
in quotes
Los Angeles is an ideal synonymous with glamour and grime. I heard the grime. In all its gory. I tried to sleep tonight about 4 am. That was endeavor was quickly interrupted by the repeated swirling of near flying helicopter rotors and nay-faring spotlights. I can only assume they were after some bad person and their intent was noble. An hour later (it was unending) the darkest most tired parts of myself rooted for the hero to realize the man in black got away (with flashes of realization that there was a broken family that cared little for the sleep of the populace and wanted the accused brought down) just so the swirling sounds that made me feel both paranoid and guilty and a little bit like I was on the receiving end of my fathers lawnmower would go away so I could sleep because tomorrow was the day I changed history and then my thoughts trail on and on in self righteous ness. In the end I realize that this whole experience is new to me, and in an even darker place I am glad.

It's good to disconnect.
It's amazing how quickly you become complacent. How quickly you become used to how things are, no matter how mundane they are, no matter how bad they are, no matter how good they are.
If you have the chance, remind yourself to step outside your world once in a while, just so you know that there's a reason some people are truly happy. Comfort, ease, accessibility are not substitutes for happiness.
I was reminded of something tonight.
My wanderlust is not the fault of how small the town i live in is, but how big the world outside it is.
Thanks, Pin.

Japanese Green Acres.
a while back, at my favorite noodle place niko niko, i met a well-to-do businessman who also happened to be a guitar enthusiast. after a while of talking i convinced him to bring his guitar around and play sometime. it was late, so i think we both forgot until the owner reminded both of us at separate times. he never played, but when we ran into each other again it gave us something to talk about. i ran into him a few more times sporadically and unexpectedly, until the meeting became more planned and expected.
it, being a ridiculously small world (or small town), turns out that his daughter is one of the girls in the sakura video i made last spring. and this fellow also happens to be the head of the PTA, which actually means something in japan.
anyways, this new friend of mine's name is imamura. he is an amiable guy, who laughs easy and works hard. he owns his own glasses shop and is an all around good guy to know.
after many late night discussions imamura learned of my love of riding horses. he knew of this little ranch themed park north of town where he had heard one could ride a horse called makai no bokujo. so i said it was on. i even had a cowboy hat.
imamura's daughter, norie and her friend shiori (who was also in the ohanami video and is a friend on facebook) wanted to come so who was i to stand in their way. us two old geezer's could use the reminder of youthful enthusiasm.
so we went. and the following video is the result. both myself and imamura proved to be less than camera friendly, so it serves mostly as a keepsake for the high school girls. i hope they enjoy it, and i also hope you can find some vicarious release.
楽しんで。
ps. wait until after the credits for a special guest appearance from yours truly.
